that's one mammoth cave!

Crossing another national park off our list thanks to a recent Southern Road Trip. After visiting Nashville in Tennessee, we headed through Kentucky and had to make a stop at Mammoth Cave National Park...the longest cave system in the world.
Each national park visit gets more and more unique and this one involved lots of tight spaces and spelunking. Good thing we're not claustrophobic! We hiked both above ground and underground, but the obvious highlight was touring through the caves.
Didn't capture too many photos because the caves are lit by lantern light, but wanted to share a few snaps from one our most unique national park visits yet.

Mammoth Cave National Park preserves the cave system and a part of the Green River valley and hilly country of south central Kentucky. This is the world's longest known cave system, with more than 400 miles explored. Early guide Stephen Bishop called the cave a "grand, gloomy and peculiar place", but it's vast chambers and complex labryin have earned its name-Mammoth

  1. Caves are sooo cool!! We have visited a few in Virginia and I think it's fun to see what they look like!

    1. I think spelunking is so under-rated. I really want to visit Carlsbad Caverns out west. Have you been to Luray Caverns in Virginia? It's definitely a must
